Apple buys Twitter Search and Analytics tool Topsy for $200 Million

Apple buys Twitter search and analytics tool Topsy for $200 Million. The company confirmed  it acquired the social analytics firm Topsy Labs. Twitter recommends Topsy in its official guide for journalists.

Topsy The new was first reported by The Wall Street Journal Apple recently acquired social-media analytics firm Topsy Labs Inc. Topsy specializes in analyzing the global conversation on Twitter. TWTR +1.45% Its tools can decipher how often a term is tweeted, find an influential person on a specific subject, or measure the exposure of an event or campaign.

Topsy founded on 2006 by Topsy Labs. With the help of Topsy you can search tweets with different kind if criteria’s. You can search for tweets just using keywords, if you need you can find the keyword tweets categorizing like links only, tweets only, photos only videos only etc.

Topsy is Apple;s interesting purchase, the company is old. In this year Apple purchased start ups like Locationary, HopStop etc.

Apple spokesperson commented that “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.”
