Facebook plans to launch ‘Paper’ a curated visual news reader on February 3 for iOS users. The new technology helps users to read articles and photos on full screen in categories you like technology, business, articles, cultures etc. Facebook paper is the first app created by Facebook creative labs.
Facebook announced through their newsroom says that “Your Paper is made of stories and themed sections, so you can follow your favorite interests. The first section in Paper is your Facebook News Feed, where you’ll enjoy inspiring new designs for photos, videos, and longer written posts. You can customize Paper with a choice of more than a dozen other sections about various themes and topics—from photography and sports to food, science and design. Each section includes a rich mix of content from emerging voices and well-known publications.”
TechCrunch reports Paper’s human plus machine curation creates what I call “content serendipity”. Normally on Facebook, you only see posts from friends and Pages you’ve subscribed to. But with a traditional newspaper, there are articles the editors think are great and you might enjoy, but that you wouldn’t have thought to seek out.
You can pick your stories through simple natural movements of your thumb. The fully detailed news covers helps you to find your best articles from trusted publishers and decide what to read or watch. If you are plan to share the articles you can see a live preview before you share it.
The app will be available to download from February 3rd for all US users.
